Phil joined Macdonald Barnett in 1996 after completing his Master of Engineering at the University of Canterbury. He left in 2001 to work in the UK for four years prior to returning in 2004. He became a director in 2016.. Phil is a Chartered Professional Engineer with extensive experience in a variety of projects large and small in both New Zealand and overseas. Phil is actively involved in the industry through the Tauranga Group of SFPE and has was involved in the MBIE working Groups for the Fire Code Compliance Documents.

He is now based in Tauranga but continues to provide fire engineering services throughout the country.
